Novembers Poem | Tales of Green & Faithful Musings

Updated: 3 hours ago

I wrote this poem while reflecting on how often I rush my own becoming. Nature has a way of reminding us that growth can’t be forced. This piece is an invitation to breathe, slow down, and bloom in the light of the One who made us.

Every flower blooms in its season,

In its own manner,

To its own size,

Though planted together,

At the same time.

If the flower doesn't bloom,

At the time we expect,

Does that mean it has failed?

Or, that we are trying to control a natural phenomenon?

A flower will not bloom until the conditions are right for it to shine.

What may seem like a failure of the flower,

Is actually our failure to understand the purpose of the flower.

The flower’s beauty is supposed to ground us in the present,

To bloom when it has the right balance of water, light, and time.

Not hurried or rushed by our desires or expectations,

But to bloom—

And grow—

In the light of its creator,

All for the glory of its creator.

Aren't we like the flower?

To be grounded in the present,

Not rushed, or hurried by our desires,

Blooming under the right circumstances,

In the light of our creator,

All to his glory.

Just as the lilies of the field:

Neither toil,

Nor spin,

Yet are clothed with God’s glory,

Even more so,

Are we.

The flowers that inspired this poem
